Scriptures

Well, here we are again, sending emails! I'm just going to start off by saying that the scriptures are awesome! Each day I get up and study, I learn something awesome out of the Book of Mormon and surprisingly that day I end up using what I learned! It is a pretty simple concept but each time it happens I'm pretty amazed! The Book of Mormon was truly inspired for out time and for the questions that we all have!

We had a pretty great week here and things are starting to pick back up again! Lucienne was at church along with two other investigators we have! Lucienne asked us saturday night, how long she needed to let us know that she wants to get baptized, before the actual baptism! We believe that her baptism will be this saturday! That is what we are praying for atleast! :) She is amazing, she has read like 3/4 of the Book of Mormon and her book is so marked up! She loves it! I was blessed with the opportunity to give a talk on church on sunday and we all know how much I love giving talks ;) but it went pretty good and I talked about the Joy in serving the Lord! When I get infront of people like that I'm sure my French is awful cause I get nervous haha! Oh well! Last night we went and saw a guy that is the highest catholic priest on all of Guadeloupe and it was pretty cool to sit and talk with him! He was super nice and we simply just talked about religion and different things! He has even read the Book of Mormon but I'm not sure how he felt about it! This week we have zone conference and we all pretty excited for that! Elder Claudio D. Zivic will be here. He gave the talk in the last general conference about Delicat Arch in Moab! That will be a pretty cool experience! We are trying to make the work better in Lamentin, something that seems like a never ending process but it is great :) Always room to improve something!

Sounds like everyone is doing well! I send my thoughts and prayers! I've been hearing rumors about some stuff that is going on in the world! Not good to be hearing that but I know that if we focus on the things that really matter in life, the plan of salvation, the atonement of christ, we can find happiness! N'importe qui biten

That was easily a quick transfer and I think that has to do with the fact that it was just so busy! I'm definitely looking forward to the upcoming transfer and what can come from it! Elder Christensen and I learned a lot together and I'm excited to see what can happen when we put all the new things into work!

It was quiet an interesting week for us here. Might as well get the bad news over with and say that Lucienne didn't end up getting baptized, but don't worry, it will come here soon! She has made so many changes in her life and she told us that she doesn't want to go back but she wants to keep moving forward! So earlier this week she was feeling pretty sad because of some family issues that she got solved then Tuesday night while I was down on an exchange, Elder Christensen and Elder Ehlert went and gave her a blessing! She expressed her feelings that that really helped and that she was still planning on the baptism this past Saturday! Well Wednesday, the day of the interview, we get a call from her and she ended up telling us that she wasn't getting baptized because her daughters wouldn't let her and that they don't support her. She also mentioned something about about her daughters looking at stuff on the internet. Right then and there a red flag came up and Elder Christensen and I knew that they had looked at ex-mormon stuff. So we asked her if we could come over and talk to her and her 2 daughters. We went over later that night and we basically got attacked but we listened respectfully to all of their arguments and towards the end we attempted to respond to their concerns but they were to set in their ways. It was so sad. It makes it even more sad to know that we could have responded to all of their arguments with doctrine but they refused to listen. So that lesson didn't really help anything but it was really spiritual for Elder Christensen and we both came out edified by the spirit and we were taught many lessons! Lucienne came to church on Sunday and she loved it. It was a tender mercy because a couple of the testimonies that were born concerning a lot of the difficulties that Lucienne was having, without anyone even knowing! We saw her last night with a member and she is still planning on Baptism but she doesn't know when! We invited her to pray concerning the "when" so we will see what happens! We are really praying for her and we know that God has a plan for her! The Lord has been blessing us! We have been so thankful for all these blessings! We have an awesome transfer ahead of us and we are going to get work done! :)

Life

Well I'm not really sure how we are already going into week 6 of this transfer! I feel like it should only be like week 3! It amazes me how fast time has been going by lately but I'm sure it has to do with the fact that we are trying to stay as busy as possible! The sickness moved it's way out on Monday so I was set and ready to go for the whole week! I was pretty dang sore though for a couple of days though but now all is going well! So we have had some interesting things happen, Dina, the lady that we met contacting one day and left with a Book of Mormon has kind of disappeared on us and we are pretty heartbroken you could say, about that! Also we haven't been able to see Francoise for a really long time now! We don't know what has been happening and we have been trying to do all that we can to figure things out! We didn't have any success this week with them but we still have this coming week so we will see what happens! Things are going great with Lucienne, it has been really cool to see her fulfill D&C 20:37. We have seen so much change in her and we know she is going to get baptized! We have her baptismal interview this week and hopefully her baptism on Saturday! We ended up doing a lot of finding this week and the Lord really blessed us with some amazing contacts! It is really cool to see what difference the Book of Mormon makes on people when we introduce it for the first time! There really is something so special about it! I can't really remember a lot of other stuff so I guess that will be all for this week! Something funny that happened, we came accross a french guy and the contact was so funny! He came out to the gate and opened it and was super friendly! He continued to ask us why we were there and we told him what we did! Instantly his mood changed and he slammed the gate on us! I stood there so confused as he starred at us! Note that he was just tall enough so that his eyes made it over the gate! And he starts walking away saying I don't need all this religion and stuff and he was super mad! I was still in awe and it was pretty funny to us! It is really sad when people don't give these things a chance!

Life is great here! I've been really trying to focus my thoughts towards the Savior in all things and it has been really blessing me! It helps a lot and the spirit is so much stronger! I also love the Book of Mormon, I know that the words were really inspired for our time and that they can really help us get so much closer to Christ, as I have seen it in my life! I invite everyone to take the time to read from the Book of Mormon, and I can testify that it will change lifes! :) I love you all so much and I hope everyone has a fantastic week! Chikungunya....

Well the chikungunya has taken it's course on me this past weekend! I've been feeling pretty weird ever since thursday but this weekend was the worst. I thought I was immune to the sickness but that wasn't true! The week was a pretty good one other than that! Unfortunately we haven't been able to see Dina or Francoise this week and neither of them were at church. We are really hoping this wee that we will get the opportunity to see them and see how things are going! Lucienne was at church again and she has been making awesome progression! We had a lesson with her last night and she basically ended up teaching us about the priesthood! That was pretty cool! Her two daughter have been starting to show interest in the gospel as well so the Lord has been blessing us immensely! We had a mom and her daughter come to church on sunday for the first time, the Franscique family! They loved church and the little 8 year old girl is super genius! Elder Christensen told me that she said to him that she learned way more at our church than at her church! We thought that was pretty cool! We have definitely been blessed lately and it is such a huge blessing! Hopefully I can get this sickness gone here soon so I can get back out to working hard! Dang mosquitoes! I've had a fever all weekend! It has been pretty fun! :) Passing my year mark was pretty weird, although it doesn't really feel like it has been that long at all! I'm so thankful for how far I have come in only one year! This gospel has been such a blessing and I love being here! I am really looking forward to this next year and how much more progression I can make! Also I hope you are saving the other half of that candy and stuff for when I get home;) That is about all for this week! Glad everyone enjoyed the fair, I didn't miss it :) haha There are some birthdays coming up soon, Mom, Kim and grandpa peterson! I wish you all a Happy Birthday!! :) Go out and celebrate for me!! One Year

Well, the computer isn't really having that many problems today so I should be able to get you a good email! Where do I begin? This was a super awesome week filled with blessings and miracles! I guess I will start by talking about Dina! Dina was a contact we had a couple weeks ago and ever since we left the Book of Mormon with her, she has been progressing rapidly! We had a lesson with her on Friday and we were even blessed to talk with her daughter! Saturday we had a baptism for the Elders of Baie-mahault and Dina was able to come! After the baptism, President Eclar and I took her into a room and asked her what she thought. She explained to us that she got the chills and that she felt so good! What a huge blessing! She said she knows that this is the path that she needs to take! As we were walking out of the room into the foyer of the chapel, President Eclar, in English goes, "well she is getting baptized!" It was pretty awesome and Elder Christensen and I were pumped! Our investigator whose name is Lucienne also came to the baptism and she loved it! We are amazed at the progress that our investigators have been making! Francoise, another investigator that we have, was at church as well, along with Lucienne! The three of these investigators have a baptismal date for the 6th of september and we are working hard towards these dates! One super cool thing that happened also this week, we were at a members house with Lucienne and her daughter Linda who is 21 years old. Linda has a hard time accepting doctrine and at this specific moment and time, we were talking about the law of chastity, and Linda refused to understand or even believe in it. Elder Christensen explained that one of the ways we can know if this is really God's commandment is by putting it to the test and waiting for the blessings that follow! Then out of know where lucienne goes, "I know that this is a commandment because I have put it to the test also!" It was so amazing and the spirit was so strong! That was a blessing filled week!

Blessings

   I accidently deleted everything that I was going to say and now I am running out of time, what luck do I have! We went to les saintes again yesterday and that is why you are getting the email right now! Sorry about that! Just real quickly though, Things are going awesome here! Lucian came to church and she loved it, and she loves the book of mormon! She is making so much progression! We had another investigator at church whose name is Dina and that was super awesome because we had only had one lesson with her! The lord is blessing us according to our desires and our obedience! Things are going awesome right now! Elder christensen got us stuck in the mud for about 45 minutes the other night and that was pretty funny haha! The van we are in doesn't do to well with the mud!
   That is all I have time for really! I need to go but I am glad that everyone had an awesome week and that the snake river was a blast! I am sad I missed out on that! Have a great week and sorry this letter was a short one, that is my fault! I love you all so much! thanks for all you do!!

Lamentin

   Well week one in lamentin was awesome! Elder Christensen and I have set some awesome goals and we are super excited to see what comes of it! One of the goals that we have recently made was to be exactly obedient so that we can achieve a goal of 3 baptisms this transfer. We started off our goals by fasting this past fast Sunday and we are excited to see what comes of it! We have already been starting to see awesome miracles happen as we have showed the lord our desires to baptize and to work hard! We did a lot of contacting this past week in some areas that haven't been worked in for a long time, if ever. The good news is, is that we placed a book of mormon with almost each contact that we had and that was a huge blessing. We really found some awesome people and we will see what comes of it this coming week! In fact, we came across a family that had a little girl that was eight years old and she amazed me with her knowledge of the gospel! All of the questions that we asked the parents (not thinking that she would understand), she ended up answering them perfectly! Elder Christensen and I were amazed! A lot of our contacts that we found were really awesome people and some huge blessings for us!
   We have a progressing investigator whose name is Lucian and we just had a miracle lesson with her last night with one of the members in our branch! Lucian has been struggling with finding the truth and has went through a couple church's, so she is pretty closed up and is having troubles deciding what to do! The lesson we had last night really helped her and we can tell that she knows that these things are true but she is still struggling a little bit! Our member that we were with really helped her and showed immense love towards her, one reason that members are so important! So this week we have another appointment with her and we are expecting miracles!
   I'm loving this area and I am looking forward to the challenges that lie in front of me! I love serving and helping those around me! It isn't exactly the easiest thing at times but I love it and it really has been helping me change into a better person! I love you all and I hope everyone enjoys the snake river for me! :) Be safe!!
